Missiology
Dr. Gailyn Van Rheenen, Director of Mission Alive posts monthly missiological reflections and maintains this site that provides links to many other missions areas.
The Evangelical Training Database
The Evangelical Training Database is a searchable online database, providing information on all evangelical pastoral, theological and missionary training courses world-wide, so that people everywhere can more easily find the training they need to serve the Lord. The interface is being translated into major languages, and is currently available in English, Spanish, French, Afrikaans, Portuguese and German. It presents a free opportunity to evangelical institutions to make their courses more widely known. To view courses offered by Next Step members, click here (you will find <Next Step> listed under <Evangelical Association> along with other associations.
Major evangelical sites have integrated the database into their homepages, such as the UK Evangelical Alliance (www.eauk.org), The World Evangelical Alliance - WEA (www.worldevangelical.org), the International Missionary Training Network of the Missions Commission of the WEA (www.theIMTN.org) and the South Pacific Association of Bible Colleges (www.spabc.com.au). Dr Christopher Wright, Director of the Langham Partnership International (John Stott Ministries), chairman of the Lausanne Theology Working Group, and formerly principal of All Nations Christian College is also backing the project.
The project is run by the Missionary Training Service, a member of the UK Evangelical Missionary Alliance. We are cooperating with member bodies of the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE), and Trainers of Pastors International (TOPIC).
The database is now open for all evangelical institutions to register as Training Providers at www.trainforChrist.org/english. Please click on “Training Provider Registration” in the left hand sidebar. During the process of registration please note the evangelical associations to which your institution belongs so that searches specifying these will identify your courses. You will receive a password by e-mail through which you will be able to post details of your courses – which you will be able to modify at any time.
WEA Missions Commission
The World Evangelical Alliance Missions Commission provides this database-driven website to enable timely distribution of electronic books, magazines, articles and other ministry training around the globe. Available in different languages (this link is to English version). Provides links to many other mission agency sites.
International Missionary Training Network
The IMTN is dedicated to fostering effective missionary training practices among our global Evangelical Christian constituencies. Our purpose is to assure that anyone seeking missionary service has the opportunity to receive culturally appropriate, outcomes based training leading to ministry effectiveness. We carry out our purpose by promoting whole person ministry training and best training methodologies, providing training in how to train, developing culturally appropriate curricula and training packages, offering assessment and consulting, and delivering over the Internet resources for missionary training in widely used languages of instruction. The IMTN was initiated by the Mission Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance in 1989 as the International Missionary Training Fellowship. The IMTN encourages missionary training programs to enlist as members of the IMTN. Membership is based on institutional commitment to the IMTN’s stated faith commitments and integral ministry principles and practices, not on academic criteria. Members are recommended to the IMTN by existing members and the WEA MC’s regional and national alliances (Next Step is such an alliance).
World Christian Database
The World Christian Database provides comprehensive statistical information on world religions, Christian denominations, and people groups. Extensive data are available on 9,000 Christian denominations, 13,000 ethnolinguistic peoples, as well as data on 5,000 cities, 3,000 provinces and 238 countries
